Case study · Digital for Business

From a seventeen-step manual process to one custom system

How Living Woodlands used the Local Enterprise Office's programme to give a small team the digital system to reach more communities.

01 · The objective

A social enterprise limited by manual systems

Living Woodlands is a Tipperary social enterprise providing training and consultancy in biodiversity restoration and community environmental projects. It works with schools, community groups and local authorities, delivering most of its work in person.

Enquiries, clients, reporting and material ordering were managed on manual systems, which limited how much the small team could take on. To reach more communities, it needed stronger digital infrastructure.

02 · Our approach

Map the process, then build the system end to end

AppAdvisor gathered the requirements of a seventeen-step process the team ran by hand, then built a full custom system end to end and oversaw its delivery.

The system brings together three things.

01

The process, mapped

A seventeen-step manual process set out clearly before anything was built.

02

One custom CRM

Enquiries and clients in one system, with AI, reporting and calculations built in.

03

Material ordering built in

Ordering materials handled in the same place as the rest of the work.

“We recently worked with Jack and Joe from App Advisor on a project funded through our local LEO. From the very beginning they were a pleasure to work with. They genuinely took the time to really understand the specific needs our our business and what improvements could have a meaningful impact on the day-today running of Living Woodlands. Once the most suitable measures had been identified they went above and beyond to help us implement them - providing us with clear cost-benefit analyses and jargon-free recommendations. We are absolutely delighted with the digital systems we have put in place as a result of the project. I can’t recommend App Advisor highly enough!”
